Sleep Tight (Anne Frasier)

FBI agent Mary Cantrell has been ordered to Minneapolis, her home town, to help solve a couple of cases involving the disappearance of young women.
There is a problem, however. Mary’s sister, Gillian, works for the Minneapolis PD’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and is a good friend of Gavin Hitchcock, who’s spent time in prison for murdering Mary’s best friend Fiona.
To make matters worse, Gavin has recently been released from prison and is a prime suspect in the new murders. And, the two sisters have maintained an estranged relationship ever since Gillian became jealous of Mary’s and Fiona’s close friendship.
Along with her good friend and FBI partner, Agent Anthony Spence, Mary plunges into the new cases, swimming through reunions with her mother, Blyth (a flower child who has refused to transition to yuppiness), and Gillian. Not to mention Gavin.
More than once, sibling love and sibling rivalry clash. They eventually find the killer; or so they think, but it’s just past the middle of Sleep Tight, so we know that can’t be right. So … if HE’S not the one, then who is?
That’s where the story turns Hitchcockian – evoking recollections of his iconic movie, Psycho. The real killer (who’s not on anybody’s suspect list) strikes again, this time with Gillian as his victim.
In conclusion, all I can say is if you can hear the dice clicking as he plays with them in his pocket, be wary. They’re not dice.
